Teachers are the people we put trust in to look after our kids, but sometimes they can't even look after themselves. Just today, NSW teacher and mother, Kylie Bates, has been sent to prison after charges of fraud and grand larceny.
"We've been trying to track down this scumbag for months now" Officer Blake Williams stated. "She's kept pushing her pyramid scheme on the people around her, and after enough reports, she was definitely on our radar." He then went on to say "I'm just happy she's finally behind bars."
Kylie notified the school that she had been hospitalised in hope for an early release in order to keep her job. After three days in the "hospital" (what we now know to be Prison), people started to speculate that something serious was going on. But what was soon to happen would change how people saw Kylie, forever.
On the third day of Kylie Bates being missing from work, students started noticing odd online behaviour coming from their English teacher on an online program called 'Google Classroom', a program typically used for teachers and students to connect and set tasks online. "She just started confessing stuff about fraud and grand larceny" one claimed, another student admitted "Then she posted the whole wikipedia page for 'Fifty Shades of Grey'".
Police authorities have made a statement proclaiming that this 'Fifty Shades of Grey' wikipedia Page was the forefront of her pyramid scheme. People would donate to the page and invite their friends to donate and then it would work like a pyramid scheme.
According to police reports, Kylie Bates racked up nearly $42 in donations and when that wasn't enough to pay for food for her family, she went on to commit grand larceny. The grand larceny soon lead to her arrest and her occupational termination as a high school teacher.
Many people are concerned for Kylie, one in particular is her colleague John Darnbrough. When questioned he had this to say "I was teaching the class at the time of the incident and I just couldn't believe it. Not the fact that she was confessing these crimes but that she blocked me. Like, who does that?"

Kylie believed that simply confessing to her students was the right thing to do, and with the help of Google Classroom she set her posts to student only (a new feature that allowed certain posts only to be viewed by students) in order for her colleague to be none the wiser. After realising that John had access to these posts from third party sources, Kylie Bates added to one of her posts, "Also John, how are you seeing these? I have it set to students only." in an attempt to find out how he was seeing her posts, that she believed were hidden.
This is a reminder that with the never ending threat of internet insecurity hovering over our heads at all time, we must be more cautious of where our money is going. It is highly recommended to install a malware detector and to always be completely aware of where your money is going.
We tried to reach out to Kylie Bates herself but anytime we would ask a question, she would just answer back in drunken slurs, until the point where she stumbled and fell.
